Oil and gas dominate Oklahoma City’s local economy. But thanks to the presence of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and several other science-focused institutions, it’s also a strong player in the healthcare, biotech, and tech industries.

Here are some names to know in OKC’s tight-knit startup community.

    1. Cage

Cage is an online collaboration tool for designers made by BitConfused. Designers and their teams can share, manage, and approve their creative work from any device. Cage recently collaborated with Adobe, a huge player in software, to integrate in Adobe’s Creative cloud SDK.

    2. Tailwind

Tailwind began in 2012 as a social network for brides-to-be that incorporated content from wedding planning favorite Pinterest. Today, the company is an analytics and marketing platform for Pinterest with more than 12,000 paying clients ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies. Tailwind has raised $1 million in total capital and has employees in both Oklahoma City and New York.

    3. i2E

i2E, which stands for “innovation to enterprise,” is a non-profit with a mission to invest in entrepreneurs building high-growth companies in Oklahoma. It has provided business advice and funding to more than 580 emerging businesses in Oklahoma over the course of its 15-year history and continues to be a leader supporting local entrepreneurs today.

    4. Moleculera Labs

Moleculera Labs provides personalized clinical testing services for people suspected of suffering from PANDAS/PANS, treatable neurologic conditions that are sometimes associated with motor tics, obsessive compulsive disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Since its founding in 2011, the biotech company has raised $5.1 million in capital.
